CEP_Cumbria_050821-13.jpg

Continuing professional development (CPD) is the way in which Clinical Exercise Physiologists continue to learn and develop throughout their careers, so that they keep their knowledge and skills up to date and are able to practise safely and effectively.

AHCS Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologists are required to meet CPD standards to maintain their accreditation and ensure that their activities are effective.

CPD can be completed in various forms including online webinars, academic courses and conferences and Clinical Exercise Clinical Exercise Physiologists are encouraged to complete a range of these.

Upon request, registrants must present a written profile (which must be their own work and supported by evidence) explaining how they have met the standards for CPD.

2% of applicantswill be reviewed yearly.

  • Standard 3 - Seek to ensure that their CPD has contributed to the quality of their practice and service delivery;

  • Standard 4 - Seek to ensure that their CPD benefits the service user;

  • Standard 5 - Upon request, present a written profile (which must be their own work and supported by evidence) explaining how they have met the standards for CPD

Suggested CPD framework for Clinical Exercise Physiologists

To gain and maintain AHCS registration as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist we must be proficient across six areas of practice for nine health conditions. To support choosing CPD relevant to your needs identify areas where your training/experience could be enhanced.

*Multimorbidity recommended but can be single conditions, depending on career track. Consider professional CPD, ie. EDI etc too.
