Clinical Exercise Physiology-UK (CEP-UK) and the Academy for Healthcare Science (AHCS) have published the second edition of the CEP Scope of Practice and Curriculum Framework

Clinical Exercise Physiology UK (CEP-UK) and the Academy of Healthcare Science (AHCS) are pleased to announce the publication of the second edition of the Clinical Exercise Physiology Scope of Practice and Curriculum Framework.

These updated publications reflect the continued development of Clinical Exercise Physiology as a recognised healthcare profession and provides an enhanced framework to support consistent education, training, and professional practice across the UK. The revised documents have been informed by emerging evidence, stakeholder feedback, and developments in healthcare policy and workforce requirements.

The updated documents outline the knowledge, skills, and competencies expected of Clinical Exercise Physiologists, while clearly defining the profession's scope of practice across a range of clinical settings. It also supports higher education providers, employers, commissioners, and the wider multidisciplinary healthcare workforce by promoting consistency in programme design, graduate outcomes, and professional standards.

The publication of this updated Scope of Practice and Curriculum framework represents another important milestone in CEP-UK's commitment to advancing Clinical Exercise Physiology, supporting workforce development, and improving access to safe, evidence-based exercise interventions for people living with long-term health conditions.

The updated Clinical Exercise Physiology Scope of Practice and CEP Curriculum Framework are now available to view and download from the CEP-UK website.
